About ReadyToRead

The ReadyToRead Foundation is a free, volunteer-driven initiative that empowers high school students to teach early literacy to young children, primarily ages 3–7.

Our mission is to close the literacy gap by equipping children with the building blocks of reading — letter recognition, phonics, and decoding skills — at the earliest stages of development.

Why It Works

  • Early Impact: Children gain confidence and foundational skills before entering elementary school.

  • Youth Leadership: High school volunteers develop leadership, empathy, and teaching experience.

  • Community Growth: Families benefit from stronger educational outcomes and resources.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to embrace

the power of literacy, define their own future

and positively impact the world.
